What Is the SureFire Fast-Attach® Mounting System? A Suppressor Mount Overview
The SureFire Fast-Attach® system originated from an early mounting design first seen on the FA556AR suppressor, introduced by SureFire in the early 2000s to military customers. The original design came from B&T's Rotex system, which later evolved into the modern Fast-Attach® system from Surefire, which is now featured across their SOCOM line of suppressors—most notably the RC2—as well as all current SureFire rifle suppressors that aren’t direct-thread. The Fast-Attach system® was originally designed as a proprietary system found on SureFire SOCOM suppressors but has since been adapted to a HUB mount from SureFire, B&T and also found on some B&T suppressors.
The Fast-Attach® system operates by sliding the suppressor over a compatible SureFire muzzle device—such as the Warcomp, SF3P, or SureFire muzzle brake—where internal locking lugs interface with machined notches. A rotating locking collar cams the suppressor into place with a tactile click, ensuring consistent alignment and a robust hold. When paired with muzzle devices like the SF3P that incorporate labyrinth seals, the system effectively minimizes carbon buildup on critical surfaces. It also maintains point-of-impact repeatability and is designed for tool-free installation and removal. The Fast-Attach® system is engineered for harsh environments such as demanding military applications.
Suppressor-to-muzzle device compatibility is caliber dependent. A 5.56 muzzle device can be used with a 7.62 SureFire suppressor, but the reverse is not true—a 7.62 muzzle device will not fit into a 5.56 suppressor. Always pair suppressors and muzzle devices with the correct caliber to ensure proper function. Always check with an alignment rod before use.
