What Is the CAT / CGS 1x16LH Mounting System? A Suppressor Mount Overview

The 1x16LH mounting system was first introduced to the commercial market by CGS Group with their SCI-SIX suppressor in 2023.  Additionally, the system can be found on the Cobalt Kinetics Scrambler QD, a silencer made by CGS for Cobalt Kinetics. Since then, it has been adopted by CAT Suppressors for their QD suppressors, and it is also available as a separate HUB mount system. The system is predominantly referred to as the “CAT 1x16LH” or “CAT Mounting system” by the public.

This system features left-hand threads and a tapered interface to securely attach the suppressor to the mount, effectively preventing carbon leakage onto the threads or exterior of the mount. Compared to other tapered/threaded systems on the market, the 1x16LH uses larger ACME threads, designed for improved durability and strength.

One thing worth pointing out:

The 1x16LH mounting interface used by CAT and CGS is standardized — the external thread pitch and taper geometry are consistent across all compatible muzzle devices and adapters. That’s great for cross-compatibility, but it also opens the door to potential mismatches. Just because a 5.56 suppressor with a 1x16LH adapter threads onto a 7.62 muzzle device doesn’t mean it’s safe to shoot. Bore clearance still matters. If you’re swapping suppressors across multiple calibers, it’s your responsibility to ensure the system is correctly paired. Always use an alignment rod before use, as with any suppressor mounting system. The interface won’t stop you from making a mistake — so make sure you’re not risking a baffle strike.
