DPW Dual Purpose Wrench
A dual purpose wrench combining two of the most commonly used armorer's tools in a compact form. A 3/4 inch muzzle device wrench on one end, a 3 lug castle nut wrench on the other, with a 1/2 inch drive socket in the middle.
Why We Built It
The DPW came about because our HUB mounting system needed one tool rather than two.
Our HUB adapters use a patented castle-lock system, which means they install with a castle nut wrench. Our RF series muzzle devices all use 3/4 inch flats. Put those two ends on one tool and the entire mounting system installs with a single wrench.
The JMW and JCW were already the two tools we reached for most, so we approached Forward Controls about combining what we used from each into one wrench. They took the idea further than we would have on our own, and the result works well beyond our own products.
The Muzzle Device End
Fits muzzle devices and suppressor mounts with 3/4 inch flats, including our RF devices and standard A2 birdcage flash hiders. Like the suppressor mount end of FCD's JMW, the profile is thin enough to get into tight spaces.
The Castle Nut End
A 3 lug castle nut wrench for a solid lockup when applying torque. It handles a standard castle nut and our HUB-B suppressor adapter.
For end plates with side facing QD sockets, use the FCD JCW instead.
A Shrunk Down Armorer's Wrench
The DPW gives you what a traditional armorer's wrench gives you, minus the integrated barrel nut wrench and minus the 12 inch, 1.9 lb form factor. At 3.79 oz it fits in a range bag rather than dominating one.
It is a departure from the dedicated single purpose tools Forward Controls usually makes, like the JMW, JCW, and CBW. This one combines the functions we reach for most and leaves out the rest.
