FORWARD CONTROLS DESIGN
SCP SOTAR Cam Pin
A cam pin with a machined dimple on one side, so you can always reinstall it in the same orientation. A collaboration between Chad Albrecht of School of the American Rifle and Forward Controls Design. Available in nitride or NP3.
Why Orientation Matters
A cam pin wears more heavily on one side. Install it one direction, then the other, then back again, and you wear both sides. The pin gets sloppy in the bolt and the fit loosens.
Put it in facing the same way every time and one side stays intact. That maintains a tighter fit between pin and bolt.
The point is not saving the cam pin, which is a cheap part. It is reducing the wear and stress that a loose cam pin transfers to the bolt and the cam pin bore, which are not cheap parts.
Without a marking there is no way to know which way the pin went in last time. The dimple solves that.
Nitride or NP3
Nitride is the harder surface and the conventional choice. NP3 is slicker, which reduces friction and makes carbon easier to wipe off.
Before You Order
The SCP is not compatible with the KAC SR15 bolt carrier group.
Building a complete BCG? The FCD SBCG-N ships with a nitride cam pin already.
