PF-040 Extended Takedown & Pivot Pins
A set of AR-15 and M16 pivot and takedown pins machined from 17-4 PH stainless bar stock and QPQ finished. They run 0.040 inches longer than TDP spec.
Reverse Extended
Most extended pins add length on the head side, which is exactly where an ambidextrous safety selector lives. The PF-040 adds its 0.040 on the left side of the receiver instead, so it stays clear of the safety.
Push the pins in from the left and that extra length transfers to the right side pin head, giving you more to grab. Combined with how smoothly they run, pulling a pin stops being a fight.
That matters most on a tight receiver set, with gloves on, in cold weather, or if you break the rifle down regularly for a range bag or run multiple uppers on one lower.
The Pin Heads
The right side heads are flat with a small 45 degree chamfer and nothing else. Serrations or dimples there would do nothing, so they are not there.
The left side carries a small dimple, sized so the tip of a bullet up to 9mm can push the pins through on a tight receiver.
Detent and Spring Kit
The PF-040 can be ordered with an optional kit of four detents and three springs. The odd count is deliberate. Even experienced builders launch a pivot pin detent across the room, and bending a takedown detent spring during installation is easy to do.
