OPF-G6 ACRO Glock Gen 6 Optic Plate
The FCD OPF-G6 ACRO is a precision machined 17-4 steel optic mounting plate for 6th Generation Glock pistols, compatible with Aimpoint ACRO and Steiner MPS optics.
Why Steel Instead of Aluminum
Most Glock optic plates on the market are machined from aluminum. Forward Controls Design does not make aluminum plates, and the reason is straightforward: an optic plate is a structural interface that absorbs every recoil impulse the slide produces, and it carries threaded holes that a red dot is torqued into.
Aluminum threads are the first thing to fail under that load. Once the threads deform, the optic loosens, and a loose optic is a zero you cannot trust. The OPF-G6 ACRO is machined from 17-4 steel and nitride finished, which is why it can be torqued to spec and left alone.
How the Plate Handles Impact
Unlike many options on the market, the OPF-G6 plates use every feature of the Gen 6 ORS mounting system. That matters because it spreads load evenly across the interface during cycling, and again if the optic takes a hit.
A plate that only engages part of the pocket concentrates that force on a single point, and single points are where things crack. Dispersing it across the whole system is what makes the mounting foundation solid and reduces the chance of a critical failure.
What Makes a Duty Grade Optic Plate
Forward Controls Design spends longer in development than most companies spend on an entire product line. Material selection is deliberate and excludes anything that cannot survive duty use. Every material is sourced in the United States, and the plates are designed, developed, and manufactured here.
FCD works directly with their manufacturers rather than sending a drawing and hoping. They hold extremely tight tolerances, run stringent quality control, and test exhaustively before a product ships. Nothing goes to market to be beta tested by customers.
How It Mounts
The Glock Gen 6 mounting pocket has a spindle shaped cavity designed to prevent plates from rotating or shifting longitudinally and laterally. Every OPF-G6 plate has a contoured bottom that fills that cavity, plus a relief at the rear that engages the pocket's rear locking tab.
To install, insert the rear of the plate into the rear ORS pocket at an angle, then rotate the front down into the pocket, the same way the factory polymer inserts go in.
