OPF-G RMR Glock MOS Optic Plate
The OPF-G RMR is a Glock MOS Adapter Set 01 and Set 02 compatible plate for mounting the Trijicon RMR, RMR HD, SRO, or RCR on Glock Gen 3 through Gen 5 MOS slides. It is machined in ordnance grade 4140 steel and black nitrided, at the same thickness as the OEM MOS plate, so sight height and iron sights are unaffected.
Why Steel Instead of Aluminum
Most Glock optic plates on the market are machined from aluminum. Forward Controls Design does not make aluminum plates. An optic plate is a structural interface that absorbs every recoil impulse the slide produces, and it carries threaded holes that a red dot is torqued into. Aluminum threads are the first thing to fail under that load, and once they deform the optic loosens.
Why Optic Screws Shear
When the handgun fires, recoil generates a lateral load in the direction of slide movement, and that load transfers to the fasteners holding the optic. The Glock OEM plate does not hold the optic in stasis, so those loads act on the screws at the shear plane. Screws cannot resist that indefinitely, and eventually one shears.
The OPF-G RMR adds fore and aft recoil lugs around the optic. The front lug takes the load from slide inertia on the ejection cycle, the rear lug takes it on the feed cycle. The optic stays static relative to the fasteners, which removes the lateral load at the shear plane.
Tolerance
The plate is held to a 0.003 tolerance. Trijicon holds 0.005 on the RMR and SRO. That difference is deliberate, because the fences only hold the optic immobile if they are cut closer than the optic's own variance. It also means the fit you get depends on where your particular sight falls in Trijicon's range, so some will seat snugly.
Fitment
Fits factory MOS slides on Gen 4 and Gen 5, including the Gen 3 CA MOS: G17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 34, 35, 40, 45, 47, and 49.
Does not fit Gen 6 Glocks, which use ORS. For those, see the OPF-G6 RMR plate. Does not fit the LE only MOS3, MOS5, MOS6, or MOS7. Running an Aimpoint ACRO or Steiner MPS instead? See the OPF-G ACRO plate.
On the G17, G45, G47, and G34 the plate overhangs the slide slightly on both sides. On 1.08 and 1.12 inch slides it does not. Cosmetic only.
Before You Order
Holosun optics are not supported. Holosun uses a 90 degree countersink where the RMR and SRO use 82 degree, and the supplied screws are longer than Holosun's. Using them will damage the plate. The 509T adapter plate will not work at all, and the 508T fits too loosely for the lugs to do their job.
No sealer plate is required. The plate supports the full width of the RMR and SRO.
Installation
Torque both plate to slide and sight to plate to 13 in-lb. A torque wrench in inch-pound increments is required. If your optic came with 6-32 screws, use the 3/8 inch set, not the 1/2 inch.
Vibra-tite VC-3 is included. Application instructions and an overview video on applying VC-3 are available from Vibra-tite.
