ESF-H End Plate Sling Adapter
The ESF (End plate, Sling adapter, Forward controls) is a drop-in end plate replacement for the AR platform in both 223 and 308 spec. It carries three quick detach sling swivel sockets, two side facing and one rear facing.
This is the three socket version of the ESF. If you only need a rear sling point, the ESF-H1 has a single rear facing socket and weighs 0.50 oz.
Used with a castle nut, the ESF allows retractable carbine stocks to fully collapse. SOPMOD and B5 Systems Bravo stocks fully collapse with a rear facing QD swivel installed. Other carbine stocks must close on the #2 position on the receiver extension, with #1 being fully closed, if a rear facing swivel is present.
The ESF-H has rotation limited side facing sockets. The rear facing socket has no limiters, as the receiver extension itself limits the swivel's rotation.
At 1.1 oz the ESF-H is not lightweight. It is machined from 4140 steel because it is built to outlast the 7075 aluminum receiver it mounts to. The weight sits centered on the rifle and will not make the weapon front or rear heavy.
The shape is dictated by function. Accommodating the rear facing socket while allowing stakeable castle nuts and full stock collapse required a slight increase in width at the sides and small openings on the top of the socket housing. Neither affects structural integrity.
A side effect worth mentioning: the ESF lengthens the carbine receiver's rear and fills the gap between the end plate and the retractable stock, giving the rifle a silhouette closer to the AR-10 and SR-25.
Installation Note
End plates with side facing QD sockets can block wrench notches needed for torquing. A conventional castle nut wrench has three lugs, and the socket housing may partially block access to one of them. A two lug castle nut wrench, such as the FCD JCW joint castle nut wrench, is required to torque the castle nut properly.
The ESF receiver extension indexing tab can be tight on some receiver extensions.
The ESF-H does not ship with a castle nut. Pair it with the FCD CNF castle nut, or configure a full setup with our A5 builder kit.
