CSF Carbine Sling
The CSF is a two point adjustable sling. There are only so many ways to build one, and the CSF is not trying to be groundbreaking. It is meant to be a hard use sling that is easy and intuitive to operate.
The Quick Detach Buckle Is Rear Only
This is deliberate. With the carbine slung normally and the buttstock near your shoulder pocket, releasing a rear mounted buckle lets the sling drop free under gravity alone, out of your way. A front mounted buckle requires you to squirm out of the sling instead.
Forward Controls found they used the rear buckle constantly and the front one never, so the front buckle was left off entirely. The rear buckle is also oriented so it will not pinch your finger when you use it.
The Pull Tab
The sling body uses smooth military grade webbing. The quick adjustment tab uses a different military grade webbing with a rougher texture, because a fabric tab gives you a lot of surface area and is not particular about how your hand grabs it.
The tab is always a different color than the sling body so you can find it with peripheral vision. That is a function, not a styling choice.
Length and Adjustment
Total length is 65 inches with all slack removed from the adjustment loop, with 11 inches of quick adjustment range at the pull tab and further adjustment at the rear quick release buckle.
That length is slightly longer than strictly necessary, but not so long that it needs a second triglide to close up a large loop of excess webbing. A triglide sits in the adjustment loop as a feed guide, which reduces friction between the webbing when you adjust on the move.
There is ample webbing front and rear to double back on the triglide for added security when attaching QD swivels.
Mounting Points
You will need QD sockets front and rear. The FCD ESF-H end plate gives you three at the rear, or the ESF-H1 a single rear facing socket.
