CNP Armorer's Castle Nut Punch
The CNP is a heavy duty punch made for one job: staking castle nuts. Machined from D2 tool steel, heat treated, and finished in black oxide.
Why a Dedicated Punch
Staking is what keeps a castle nut from rotating loose on the receiver extension, and a loose castle nut causes malfunctions. Doing it with whatever punch is in the drawer works until the punch deforms or slips off the notch.
The CNP has a broad flared top that gives a stable striking surface, and aggressive serrations around the sides so it does not turn in your hand mid-swing. D2 is a tool steel chosen for hardness and wear resistance, which is why this holds up for armorers and anyone building AR platforms in volume.
Pairs Well With
The FCD CNF castle nut has four staking notches 25% longer and deeper than TDP spec, which gives this punch more to bite into. For an A5 build, the extended CN5F shares the same notch design.
You will need a wrench to torque the nut before staking it. The RD® DPW covers castle nuts and muzzle devices, and the FCD JCW handles end plates with side facing QD sockets.
