ASF-SFQ Select Fire Ambidextrous Safety Selector
A conventional 0-90-180 select fire selector with Q offset levers. Rotate 90 degrees for semi, 90 degrees further for auto or burst.
The Lever Interface
The levers attach to the center via a 420 stainless spring steel roll pin with 800 lb shear strength. The pin holds the two parts in place and carries no load, so the interface itself does the work.
Tolerances on the lever and center interface are held to +0.001 / -0.000 to minimize wobble. Combined tolerance stacking can occasionally produce around 0.002 inches of movement, which is normal, nearly imperceptible, and does not affect function.
Why Serrations, Not Dimples
Forward Controls is known for the AA dimpled pattern on many of their control surfaces. The ASF levers are serrated instead, and deliberately so.
As the lever rotates, your finger slides along it. Serrations running parallel to the lever's length mitigate lateral movement without impeding that slide. Dimples, or serrations set diagonally or perpendicular, create friction for no benefit.
A single dimple on each side serves as a position indicator in place of a pointer.
Lever Profile
The outer portion of the lever is tapered rather than square, so it conforms to the angle of your thumb pad with a normal grip on the pistol grip.
Which ASF?
The ASF-SFQ is the select fire variant. The semi-auto selectors differ by throw angle and lever style:
- ASF-90 — 90 degree throw, standard levers
- ASF-90Q — 90 degree throw, Q offset levers
- ASF-50 — 50 degree short throw, standard levers
- ASF-50Q — 50 degree short throw, Q offset levers
