ACF 308 Ambidextrous Charging Handle
The large frame variant of the ACF, built for SR-25 and LR308 pattern upper receivers. Machined from 7075 aluminum, Type III hard coat anodized, in black, FDE, and OD green.

Two Design Goals
The ACF was in development from mid 2018 with two objectives. A stronger, more durable ambidextrous charging handle that withstands repeated mortaring. And better deflection of gas and debris away from your face and eyes when shooting suppressed.
The design is based on the TDP charging handle, improving on it where possible while keeping its best features.
The Constant Motion Latch
Latches that come to a hard stop put stress on the material around the pin holes when you mortar the rifle. The ACF's latches do not bottom out. They continue moving into the T handle instead, so no stress is placed on them.
The pins are solid, seated in semi-blind holes that are larger at the top and smaller at the bottom so they cannot fall through.
The T Handle
The ACF's T handle is barely wider than the TDP handle, and only because the extra width protects the latches. Wide T handles are levers with mechanical advantage you do not need, and they encourage pulling the charging handle back at an angle rather than straight along the bore.
Surface area comes from height instead. The handle is significantly taller than the TDP design, with aggressive serrations on the front strap and the curved back strap, which follows the curve of your thumb. Your fingers also sit closer to the main body, which means they clear the forward assist rim on the pull.
The gentle rearward sweep is retained from the original design, with no forward cant. A forward cant is more snag prone and forces an exaggerated motion to clear your hand from the latch.
Gas Deflection
The fence sits taller than the upper receiver and is horseshoe shaped to conform to the area where the upper meets the charging handle. That is what keeps gas out of your face on a suppressed rifle.
