CRITERION BARRELS
CORE 13.9" .223 Wylde Barrel, Midlength Gas
A chrome lined 4150 CrMoV barrel with a midlength gas system and 1:8 twist, chambered in .223 Wylde. The CORE line addresses weight distribution and balance while improving consistency through uniform heat dissipation.
The Taper Is the Point
Lights, lasers, and suppressors have become standard equipment, and every one of them hangs off the front of the rifle. That capability comes at the cost of weight, all of it in the worst place.
The CORE profile is a continuous taper that keeps the bulk of the barrel's mass near the chamber and thins toward the muzzle. The rifle balances closer to your body rather than pulling forward.
This is not a pencil barrel. The CORE is not trying to be the lightest thing available. It redistributes weight rather than removing it, and it still holds up to hard use.
Chamber and Rifling
The .223 Wylde chamber safely runs both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO, and delivers better accuracy than a 5.56 chamber by holding more consistent pressures.
Rifling is honed and hand lapped for bore uniformity, and the chamber is finely polished for reliable extraction. Chrome lining extends barrel life and adds corrosion resistance without giving up accuracy.
The gas port is tuned to run reliably suppressed or unsuppressed.
Which Length Do You Need?
The CORE comes in a range of lengths, and gas system length follows barrel length:
Running 300 Blackout instead? The CORE is also available in 8.5" and 10.5" with a 1:7 twist and pistol gas.
