14.5” Enhanced SOCOM 5.56 CHF Barrel
The Centurion Arms 14.5” Enhanced SOCOM barrel is cold hammer forged, 1:7 Twist and features a mid-length gas system. These barrels are similar to the original Colt SOCOM barrel but with a more practical mid-length gas system instead of the carbine system. The SOCOM profile barrels drop down to .725” past the journal and .700 before the muzzle threads similar to the original Colt SOCOM barrel profile without the M203 flats. Centurion Arms barrels are precise, reliable and have well thought out features such as their tabbed gas block system and coming pre-dimpled for gas block set screws. The tabbed gas block is a notch cut into the barrel that interfaces with a notch on the Centurion Arms Tabbed Gas Blocks, taking the guesswork out of aligning your gas block. You can also use standard, non-tabbed gas blocks with Centurion Arms barrels.
T-Marked Barrel
These Barrels are “T-Marked” which means they can accept standard mil spec bolts OR Centurion Arms E4 ETB Bolts. These extensions are NOT compatible with KAC E3 Bolts.
Features
Cold Hammer Forged
Centurion Arms Cold Hammer Forged Barrels are made by a drilled, reamed and honed blank on a mandrel hammered by two opposing hammers to form the rifling. The result of this process is an extremely smooth and consistent surface which creates a more accurate barrel. The barrel also ends up with a slight taper to the bore that aids in accuracy. During the forging process the barrel steel is hardened creating a much longer lasting barrel, making it a great option for those who tend to shoot higher round counts or at a faster rate often.
Barrel Steel
Centurion Barrels are made from a specifically developed machine gun barrel steel that helps to increase the barrel life under prolonged rigorous firing schedules
Chrome Lined Chamber and Bore
Centurion barrels feature a Chrome Lined Chamber and Bore. The Chrome used in this process is harder than the barrel steel itself and aids in barrel longevity and resistance to fouling and corrosion in austere field conditions. Centurion Arms applies their chrome lining nearly twice as thick as most standard small arms barrels. The Chrome lining also aids in chambering, extraction and overall reliability of the weapon
Chamber
Centurion Barrels use a true 5.56 chamber which allows the end user to reliably use multiple types of ammunition along with high pressure military ammunition
HPT/MP Inspected
Centurion barrels are all HPT (High Pressure Tested) where a proof load rated at 70,000 PSI (much higher than a normal round) is fired through the barrel, and then the barrel is MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspected) to detect any flaws in the barrel steel from the proof load.
Feed Ramps
Centurion Barrels include extended M4 Style feedramps to improve feeding and reliability
Finish
The barrels are manganese phosphate coated on the exterior. The entire barrel is finished before a gas block is mounted to ensure the entire surface is protected, even under the gas block. This allows for better absorption of oils to prevent corrosion.
