The A5 System is quickly becoming the New Standard for the AR Platform, and it can be intimidating and/or inconvenient piecing together what you need to build your perfect A5 Setup. With our Buffer Builder Kit, you can set up your perfect A5 system, knowing all of the parts you are purchasing from the drop down menus are compatible with each other!
WHAT IS THE A5 SYSTEM?
The VLTOR A5 System uses a Rifle Length Spring, and a proprietary buffer length, which allows the user to move more mass over a longer spring, without seeing the negative effects of "Over-Buffering" your rifle. The A5 Buffers use biasing springs, placed between each weight in the buffer that keeps the weights in the same position at all times, which can lend itself to a more consistent and reliable cyclic action that can in many cases also lead to a smoother felt recoil impulse, although not what the system was designed specifically to do. The A5 system was developed on the request of the United States Marine Corps, the VLTOR A5 Buffer System is an enhancement to the AR platform increasing the reliability, accuracy, and overall performance of the firearm. For the user that wants to fine tune their weapon, the VLTOR A5 buffers come in five unique weights ranging from A5H0-A5H4. It should be noted that if you are simply looking to "reduce recoil" on your rifle, a muzzle brake or a weekend carbine course with a reputable instructor is more beneficial, and we don't recommend purchasing the A5 system if that is your only goal. The A5 system is a mechanical enhancement for the platform that has benefits pertaining to a wider operational envelope and a more consistent and repeatable cyclic action, which in turn will put less stress on the internals of the rifle and allow those utilizing setups with varying amounts of input factors to find more reliable function. Any barrel length 5.56 Unsuppressed rifle WITHOUT a Law Tactical Folder Should Use the following setup: Sprinco Green Spring with an A5H2 Buffer

These are simply recommendations from a single manufacturer, and usually will provide the expected results to most users. With variables in how different barrels are gassed, and introducing other variables such as suppressors, the tuneability of the A5 System really shines. If you are using a suppressor on your rifle, because of the increased backpressure, we would recommend starting with a Sprinco Green and a A5H3 Buffer.

What are the difference between these buffer tubes? While dimensionally, they are all A5 Tubes, and will function the same on your AR-Platform Rifle. There are different features of each tube notably between the VLTOR RE-10/A5SR and the VLTOR RE-A5. While we designed this A5 Builder Kit for our own desire to have a simple, and easily understandable platform for customers to piece together their perfect A5 system, we understand there still may be questions:
Why do I not see all of the options listed in this description on the drop down menus of the builder kit?
- When certain options are sold out, they will disappear from the drop down menu. As our inventory is always fluctuating, not all options in the drop down menu will stay consistently in stock. All of our inventory is live and ready to ship, so even if a sold out item is still showing in the drop-down menu, it will prevent you from checking out.
Are these the only parts that will work with an A5 System?
- Not at all! We will continuously update our A5 Builder with compatible products from our inventory as we grow our catalog, but if you are piecing together an A5 Kit, and only need certain components from us, items like Castle Nuts and End Plates can be interchanged with "Mil-Spec" or other AR15 Products from various manufacturers. Our inventory is curated with goods that we have tested and know are of the highest quality, however that does not mean than you can not achieve a perfectly functioning system with interchanging parts like castle nuts and end plates from manufacturers that may not be available on our site.
